In the heart of Kashmir, where the mountains whisper tales of timeless artistry, my story began in the shadow of my father's struggles. He was a master papier-mâché artist, a craftsman whose hands breathed life into intricate designs that captivated the world. Employed by the Government Arts Emporium, a semi-government corporation, he traveled far and wide—from the United States to Europe, Venezuela to Vienna—showcasing his solo exhibitions. His work was celebrated globally, yet at home, we lived hand to mouth. The pride of his artistry clashed painfully with the reality of our financial hardship.

When he retired, the harsh truth struck harder: there was no pension, no safety net. I was still studying, and he, a man who poured his soul into his craft, forbade me from following in his footsteps. "There’s no future in this," he’d say, his voice heavy with the weight of his own unfulfilled dreams. After his passing, our world crumbled further. Grief and poverty intertwined, and I faced struggles that tested every ounce of my resilience.

Over cups of kahwa, I shared my dream of bringing Kashmir’s authentic papier-mâché and shawls to the global stage. I had no money to offer, yet Saleem’s heart was as generous as his talent. He built the Kasheer Online platform for free, guiding me through the intricacies of e-commerce and even helping me register the company. His belief in my vision became the cornerstone of this journey.
